LRRS, Legends and Bandolero Champions Crowned At Season Ending Banquet 117 Trophies and $16,880 to be awarded Saturday night LOUDON, N.H. – New Hampshire Motor Speedway officials will crown champions at the 2013 season ending Loudon Road Race Series, U.S. Legend Cars International and Bandoleros Awards Banquet held at the Crowne Plaza in Nashua, N.H. on Saturday at 6 p.m. Prizes include 117 trophies and $16,880 in payouts will be awarded to overall series and class champions. The names on the trophies will look familiar as Rick Doucette and Shawn Buffington each retained their titles in the LRRS and Granite State Legends Car Series, respectively. In the inaugural Gifford’s Famous Ice Cream Bandolero Series season, 10-year old Casey Call took home a championship. The LRRS invades “The Magic Mile” for seven weekends – one per month – from April to October with $10,000 in payouts on the line. The Granite State Legends Cars Mini-Oval Series, Moat Mountain Road Course Series and Gifford’s Famous Ice Cream Bandolero Series run an extended schedule with 13 point race weekends totaling $6,880 in the championship awards fund. “We are proud to host these exciting two and four-wheeled racing series throughout the summer,” said Jerry Gappens, executive vice president and general manager of New Hampshire Motor Speedway. “Congratulations to this year’s podium winners. There is a rich history of great racing in New England, and these men and women prove that racing talent is in our area.” Doucette won six expert class championships this season and retained the Loudon Road Race Series overall championship for a fourth straight year. Scott Greenwood, Shane Narbonne, Seth Hahn and Cory Hildebrand round out the overall top five behind Doucette. A native of Sandown, N.H., Doucette will take home titles in the Formula 40 Lights, GTL, LW Grand Prix, LW Superbike, LW Supersport and Thunderbike. The Dash for Cash/Middleweight Grand Prix championship trophy will go to Greenwood of Dunbarton, N.H., who will also finish atop the GTU, MW Supersport, Unlimited Superbike and Unlimited Supersport classes, while Hildebrand (Milford, N.H.) won the GTO and HW Supersport class titles. The HW Superbike, MW Superbike and Super Twins trophies will once again go to Eric Wood of Ashburnham, Mass. Trevor Arvidson of Bolton, Conn., won the Ultralight Superbike and Super Singles class championships. Enfield, Conn. native, Larry Graffam won the overall Loudon Road Race Series Amateur Achievement award along with the GTU class championship. Rick Kaeser, Bruce Marshall, Justin Pallein and Brad Erling round out the overall top five behind Graffam. Rick Kaeser and Justin Pallein led the Amateur winners with four class championships each. Kaeser, a native of New Boston, N.H., was a class champion in the LW Grand Prix, LW Superbike, Formula 50 Lights and Formula 40 Lights. Pallein (Lebanon, Conn.) was tops in the HW Supersport, Unlimited Supersport, MW Grand Prix and MW Supersport. John Linn and Samuel Greenwood each won three classes while Roger Ealy Sr. and Brad Erling were double class champions. Linn (Bristol, Vt.) will receive class titles in the GTL, Ultralight Superbike and P-89 Lights. Greenwood (Dunbarton, N.H.) was tops in Lightweight Sportsman, Super Singles and Motard classes. Ealy (New Durham, N.H.) finished the season on top of the GTO and Unlimited Grand Prix classes; and Erling (Essex Junction, Vt.) was a HW Superbike and Unlimited Superbike class champion. Samuel Witham of Newmarket, N.H. was won the Thunderbike class and was named VANSON Rookie of the Year. Buffington won the overall Granite State Legends Car Series track championship at NHMS for the third consecutive season while also coming in first place in both the Moat Mountain Road Course Series and the Granite State Legends Car Mini-Oval Series. In 27 starts this year, Buffington (Plainfield, Conn.) picked up 20 wins and three runner-up finishes. It was an impressive season for Buffington, who now has 35 race wins in 49 career starts at “The Magic Mile.” For the second year in a row, Thomas Gray of Baltic, Conn. finished second in the road course and mini-oval standings. Windham, N.H. native and 15-year old female racer, Taylor Martin, rounded out the top three in the mini-oval series while Mike Alton of Nashua, N.H. finished third in the road course series. Alex Vorrilas of North Reading, Mass. was named Legend Car Rookie of the Year. Casey Call of Pembroke, N.H. placed first in the inaugural Gifford’s Famous Ice Cream Bandolero Series Championship while 12-year old Robby Gordon Douglas from Derry, N.H. and nine-year old Charles Macko from Chester, Vt. round out second and third, respectively. The Loudon Road Race Series, the Granite State Legends Cars and the Gifford’s Famous Ice Cream Bandoleros will bring back the excitement in 2014 for several action-packed weekends.
