New Hampshire Motor Speedway Recognizes 2012 LRRS Champions

Just Rewards: Loudon Road Race Series, Legends Car Series Celebrate Seasons Series, class champions honored at banquet in Nashua on Saturday night LOUDON, N.H. (Nov. 13, 2012) Rick Doucette and Shawn Buffington each retained their titles in the Loudon Road Race Series and NELCAR Legends Tour Series, respectively, and were lauded for their efforts at the 2012 LRRS and Legends Award Banquet. The event was hosted by the Radisson in Nashua, N.H., last Saturday. The LRRS invades “The Magic Mile” for seven weekends one per month from April to October. The NELCAR Legends Tour Series runs a similar schedule with eight point races and two showcase exhibitions during both NASCAR weekends. Doucette won seven class championships this season and retained the Loudon Road Race Series overall championship for a third straight season. Scott Greenwood, Jason Carter, Cory Hildebrand and Eric Wood round out the overall top-five behind Doucette. A native of Sandown, N.H., Doucette took home titles in the Formula 40 Lights, HW Supersport, GTL, LW Grand Prix, LW Superbike, LW Supersport and Thunderbike. The Dash for Cash/Middleweight Grand Prix championship trophy once again went to Wood of Ashburnham, Mass. Wood also took home hardware in the HW Superbike, MW Superbike and Super Twins. Greenwood of Dunbarton, N.H., finished atop the GTU, MW Supersport, Unlimited Superbike and Unlimited Supersport classes, while Hildebrand (Milford, N.H.) won the GTO and Unlimited Grand Prix class titles. Eugene Berrio Jr. of Rockland, Mass., won the P-89 Lights and Ultra Superbike class championships. Other Expert class winners include Shawn Spear (125 Grand Prix) of Buxton, Maine; Dennis Levesque (Formula 40) of Merrimack, N.H.; Douglas Fogg (Formula 50 Lights) of Merrimac, Mass.; Alexander Guilbeault (LW Sportsman) of Litchfield, N.H.; Trevor Chiappisi (Motard) of Deerfield, N.H.; Branch Worsham (Production Twins) of Old Westbury, N.Y.; and Matthew Gendron (Super Singles) of Durham, Maine. Dave Tasker and Shane Lewis led the Amateur winners with four class championships each. The two also finished first and second, respectively for the overall Amateur title. Tasker, a native of Lexington, Mass., was a class champion in the Formula 40, HW Superbike, HW Supersport and MW Grand Prix. Lewis (Woodstock, Conn.) was tops in the LW Grand Prix, LW Superbike, LW Supersport and GTL. Roger Ealy Jr. (New Durham, N.H.) received class titles in the GTO, MW Supersport and Unlimited Grand Prix. William Morey (Derry, N.H.), Gennaro Ameno (North Reading, Mass.), Jake Vader (Franklin, N.H.) and Brendin Tanner (Rensselerville, N.Y.) were double class champions. Morey was first in the Formula 40 Lights and Ultralight Superbike; Ameno was tops in Motard and Super Singles; Vader finished the season on top of the LW Sportsman and 125 Grand Prix classes; and Tanner was a GTU and MW Superbike class champion. Also winning Amateur class awards were Brady Ward (Formula 50 Lights) of Raymond, N.H.; Alan Perry (P-89 Lights) of East Providence, R.I.; Daniel Kapnis (Production Twins) of Georgetown, Mass.; Christopher Bouchard (Super Twins) of Concord, N.H.; William Coolahan (Thunderbike) of Derby, Vt.; Antonio Marchetti Jr. (Unlimited Superbike) of Peabody, Mass.; and Justin Torres (Unlimited Supersport) of Swansea, Mass. Buffington won the NELCAR track championship at NHMS for the second consecutive season. In eight starts, Buffington (Plainfield, Conn.) picked up four wins, three runners-up and one third-place finish. It was an impressive season for Buffington, who now has 15 race wins in 22 career starts at “The Magic Mile.” Thomas Gray of Baltic, Conn., and Evan Beaulieu of Durham, Maine, finished second and third, respectively. Trevor Bleau was named Legend Car Rookie of the Year. The Loudon Road Race Series and the NELCAR Legends Tour will be back in action in 2013 for several action-packed weekends.
