Millville, N.J. (October 22, 2009) – For the second consecutive year, New Jersey Motorsports Park, in conjunction with New Jersey Motorsports Park’s Green Flag Children’s Charities and the Coats For Kids Foundation, will host the annual Coats For Kids holiday program. Select local school children, chosen from the school based on need, will visit New Jersey Motorsports Park on December 11 to choose a new winter coat, a pair of gloves or mittens, a hat or a scarf, a book, and enjoy a hot, healthy lunch. In 2008, the Coats For Kids drive and Green Flag Children’s Charities outfitted over 400 children with brand-new cold weather gear and contributed $5,000 to area charities. “The Coats For Kids drive is an important project for us, and we couldn’t do it without the support of the community,” said Kevin Wittman, New Jersey Motorsports Park General Manager. “The donations we received last year were wonderful. Unfortunately, in these economic conditions, we anticipate a higher need this year. We’re asking once again for the support of this incredible community.” New Jersey Motorsports Park is currently soliciting donations in advance of the December 11 distribution. There are three ways to donate to the Coats For Kids drive: Local residents may drop off new coats, gloves, scarves, hats, mittens and books at New Jersey Motorsports Park. As required by the Coats For Kids Foundation, all clothing must be new, but can range in size from Youth 2Y to Women’s and Men’s 2X. Books may be gently used. The Green Flag Children’s Charities will also accept monetary donations for those who are either out of the area and can’t deliver clothing to New Jersey Motorsports Park, or for those who simply would like the Green Flag Children Charities to purchase coats in appropriate sizes. Those wishing to donate to Coats For Kids and Green Flag Children’s Charities can make checks payable to GFC Charities. Those checks should be mailed to the attention of Michelle Boger-Haines at 47 Warbird Drive, Millville, NJ, 08332. Donations can also be made by credit card by calling 856-327-7216. In addition to the Coats For Kids program, New Jersey Motorsports Park plays hosts to a number of community fund raising events throughout the year. The world-class motorsports facility also annually hosts the Barbara Cook Run-Ride-Walk For Cancer and this winter hosted a Daytona 500 viewing party that raises funds for the New Jersey Motorsports Park Green Flag Children’s Charities organization associated with the track. Nearly $100,000 has been raised for various charities since New Jersey Motorsports Park opened in July of 2008.
