New Jersey Motorsports Park Has Gone Green!

Park officials announce completion of solar project.

MILLVILLE, N.J. (May 4, 2020) –   After announcing the commencement of its first solar project back in September, rows of solar panels have sprouted up along the northern side of the Thunderbolt track.  “We are excited for the completion of this project and to be amongst the first motorsports entertainment complexes in the nation to go solar,” said NJMP COO Brad Scott. “We are committed to taking whatever steps we can to become a more environmentally friendly facility.”

New Jersey Motorsports Park hopes to become a role model for other big complexes in the state looking to help minimize their environmental footprint while taking advantage of the savings generated by a solar energy system.  This project could not have been timed better with the financial impact of the COVID-19 closing. The solar installation will provide 842 kilowatts of energy, enough to support the majority of the Park’s energy needs, dramatically decreasing NJMP’s energy costs. The clean energy generated by the installation will prevent the emission of an estimated 705 metric tons of carbon dioxide each year and is the equivalent of planting 830 acres of forest.

The park partnered with SolarKal – a solar advisory and brokerage firm who ran a thorough feasibility assessment on the project to recommend a strategy and financing options. Through the company’s proprietary process of matching prequalified solar contractors, SolarKal selected, New Jersey Based Infiniti Energy Services (IES) as the solar installer for this project.

“Our team is beyond proud we were able participate in this project and play a role that speaks to New Jersey’s agenda to promote sustainable and renewable energy.” said Michael Kushner, President of IES. “We want to thank the entire team at NJMP, Solarkal and the community for their support and dedication” Kushner continued. “This will not only enable the facility to reduce operating expenses, but represents a significant milestone for entertainment facilities and their efforts to make a sustainable impact.”
