New Jersey Motorsports Park Green Flag Committee to Host 8th Annual “Coats for Kids” Coat Drive on December 4th

Annual charity event provides warm coats, gloves and hats for over 500 Cumberland County children from 17 schools.

MILLVILLE, N.J. – Over 500 local school children are scheduled to visit New Jersey Motorsports Park on Friday, Dec. 4th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to enjoy their “Coats for Kids” holiday program hosted by the New Jersey Motorsports Park Green Flag Children’s Charities.

Cumberland County elementary and middle school students, selected by their school, will choose a brand new winter coat, a pair of gloves or mittens, a hat and a scarf, a book or two and then enjoy a hot, healthy lunch, plus a visit with Santa and some corporate mascots. Each item has been donated to the drive by corporations, Green Flag Committee members, and racers.

“The support of the corporate and local volunteer and racing community in providing these children with brand new warm-weather clothing of their choice is overwhelming,” said Patti Mackie, co-chairperson of the Coats for Kids committee.

“This is one of those special events we look forward to hosting every holiday season,” said Brad Scott, General Manager and COO of New Jersey Motorsports Park. “We’re thankful for the support of the community and we’re pleased that over 500 children in Cumberland County will benefit from our coat drive.”

“The Green Flag Committee volunteers work hard to support our local children’s organizations,” said Don Fauerbach, founder of the NJMP Green Flag Committee. “For the eighth year in a row we are providing these children in need with warmth, love, and happiness during the holidays. We’re thankful for the support of our sponsors, our community, and all the racers who have helped us raise the funds necessary to accomplish this special goal for these children.”

Leading the corporate contribution list are; Bottino’s Shoprite, South Jersey Gas, BB&T Bank, Atlantic City Electric and Cape Bank with their generous contributions. Bottino’s Shoprite Stores are donating, preparing and serving the complete luncheon for the children, and South Jersey Gas, Atlantic City Electric, and BB&T Bank and Cape Bank are providing funding to purchase a portion of the winter wear.

The motorsports community has once again provided significant support for this year’s coat drive. The South Jersey Region of the Sport Car Club of America (SCCA) conducted a funds drive to benefit Coats for Kids, raising hundreds of dollars to help purchase additional winter coats during their recent regional races held at NJMP, and numerous Porsche and BMW racing clubs have also made substantial contributions.
