Millville, NJ (July 16, 2008) New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP) is off to a very successful start since the inaugural track day, July 5th, NJMP has hosted three diverse events. Over the July 4-6 weekend, more than 40 of NJMP’s charter Driver’s Club members took to the Lightning Road Course for the facility’s first Member Weekend. Members demonstrated the ubiquity and appeal of Motorsports, as everything from Dodge Ram SRT-10s, Ferrari 430s, Shelby Cobras, Mazda Miatas, VW R32s, Porsche 911s and BMW 650s hit track for two days of hot lapping. “NJMP has assembled a professional track and they were jumping through hoops today to make everyone happy and keep everyone safe,” said Scott Leder, an NJMP Driver’s Club Member, professional driving coach and owner of a 1990 Porsche 964. “I was the second car on the track. I made history today, and in my business and my world, that’s significant.” Immediately following the members’ weekend, NJMP hosted more than 130 sport motorcycle enthusiasts from the Absolute Cycle club, of Linden, NJ. The reaction was overwhelmingly positive from the riders, and with more than 20 days of dedicated sportbike riding booked at NJMP through the course of the summer, NJMP has become a premier destination for motorcyclists right out of the gate. This past weekend saw the first-ever spectator event at NJMP, as the Eastern Motor Racing Association series brought more than 350 competitors and an estimated 1,000 spectators to the track for three action-packed days. Principal and Development Project Manager Joe Savaro said, “It’s been a huge amount of work in recent weeks to get ready to open. In the last ten days, we’ve seen the results of a decade of work and the labors of hundreds of people come to life, and it’s immensely satisfying. “In just the first week, we’ve hosted more than 600 members, drivers and riders and hosted our first spectator event. We’ve demonstrated beyond the shadow of a doubt there’s a tremendous demand the for this type of facility from all types of racers Ferrari owners to sportbike racers and that New Jersey Motorsports Park will have a drastic economic impact on the region.” In the coming weeks, construction crews will put the finishing touches on the marquee Thunderbolt Raceway, in preparation for its August 1st opening. NJMP will host three days of public events the weekend of August 1-3, including a drive-in movie night for families on Friday, August 1st, a Run-Ride-Walk event benefiting the Lance Armstrong Foundation and South Jersey Healthcare Foundation on Saturday August 2nd, and a karting enduro race for local media and politicians, also on August 2nd. On August 7-10, NJMP will host its first major spectator event, as the SVRA series brings its immaculate vintage racers to Thunderbolt Raceway. # # # About NJMP New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP) is a multifaceted motorsports lifestyle complex located on 700 acres of land adjacent to the historical Millville Airport in Southern New Jersey.
