New Officials Appointed To FIM Superbike World Championship

Appointment of new officials

The FIM and Dorna WSBK Organization are pleased to announce that the Superbike Permanent Bureau has appointed new permanent officials within the FIM Superbike World Championship.

Franck Vayssié – FIM WSBK Safety Officer

Franck made his debut as a Marshal at the French Bol d’Or in 1996, became a Steward at the French Federation of Motorcycling (FFM) in 1998 and started acting as Clerk of the Course in National competitions in 1999. Two years later, he had his first experience at World Championship level as an Assistant Clerk of the Course at the Bol d’Or, the Le Mans 24 Hours, the French GP and World Superbike. In 2006 and 2007 he worked as an instructor for the FFM Marshals and Officials. After his first Clerk of the Course experience at the 8 hours of Doha in 2008, he was appointed Clerk of the Course for motorcycling events at the Losail Circuit in Qatar in 2009. He joined the FIM Road Racing Commission in 2011 and has officiated as FIM clerk of the course and Steward at a number of MotoGP and WSBK events.

Scott Smart – FIM WSBK Technical Director

Scott was born in a family of motorcycle racers. He has a degree in Physics and has been racing in the British Superbike Championship, World Supersport and Grand Prix in the 500cc and 250cc categories. Over the years he has run his own teams and been involved in both the mechanical and electronic aspects of motorcycles, from building and tuning engines to producing the wiring harnesses for a number of BSB teams. More recently he has also acted as a crew chief in MotoGP, whilst continuing to race.

Monica Lazzarotti – WSBK Medical Director

Monica graduated in 1991 and specialised in Sports Medicine in 1995. As a lecturer and researcher at the Higher Institute of Physical Education and Sport Science in Italy, she was already working on fitness assessment for competitive athletes in 1996. Working initially with the Italian Trials Team at national and world level, she joined the MotoGP Clinica Mobile (2003 to 2008). She was in the FIM Commission for Women in Motorcycling (2006 to 2010) and in 2011 she became a member of the FIM Medical Commission. She has held the position of Race Medical Director within the Italian Road Racing Championship over the last two seasons.

The FIM and Dorna WSBK warmly thank Mr Igor Eskinja (FIM WSBK Safety Officer & Inspector), Mr Steve Whitelock (FIM WSBK Technical Director), Mr Fabio Fazi (FIM WSBK Technical Director) and Mr Ruggero Mattioli (WSBK Race Medical Director) for their professionalism and active contribution to the huge improvements made during their involvement within the FIM Superbike World Championship and their invaluable contribution to our sport.
