JENNIFER CAPASSO NAMED MAZDA RACEWAY LAGUNA SECA PUBLIC RELATIONS MANAGER MONTEREY, Calif. (June 30, 2008) Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca announced today that Jennifer Capasso has taken the position of public relations manager to handle communications efforts at the legendary Monterey Peninsula road course. In her position, Capasso will handle the day-to-day public relations for the facility, while the track’s press officer, Ed Nicholls, will focus his efforts on the five major events. Capasso brings extensive public relations experience to the position from Hyundai and Honda at their respective agencies. At Honda, she was the management supervisor and was responsible for a team of account executives and ultimately accountable for managing and coordinating all activities and projects related to Honda’s automotive public relations efforts. While at Hyundai, she was on the team that launched vehicles that broke down the stereotypes about their products and proved that they were every bit as good as their competitors. “Jennifer’s broad experience both in and outside the industry is a great addition to the public relations team,” said Gill Campbell, CEO/general manager of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. “She is a smart, passionate, seasoned professional and this is yet another step in making the track and our events more prominent by delivering not only automotive, but mainstream national media.” Capasso joins Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca as the organization continues to solidify long-term plans, including the recently announced contract extension to host MotoGP through 2014. Her arrival is in the midst of an exciting 2008 race season which includes the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix (July 18-20), the 35th Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races presented by Toyota (August 15-17), the Corona AMA Superbike Finale (September 27-28), and the Monterey Sports Car Championships (October 17-19). Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca was established in 1957. The world-renowned raceway has been operated since its inception by the Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula (SCRAMP), a not-for-profit 501C(4) corporation.
