Another Roadracing World Young Gun makes it to the big league! Racer Shane Narbonne, age 17, from Derry New Hampshire, is set to campaign the AMA Formula Xtreme and Superstock classes in 2008 aboard S-Works, LLC prepped bikes. S-Works is a recently formed road race shop located in Allentown, Pennsylvania, owned and run by racer Bob Robbins. Narbonne will be riding a Triumph 675 in Formula Xtreme and a Suzuki GSX-R1000 in Superstock. “We’ve been watching Shane’s progress over the past two seasons at Loudon and along with the opinion of all involved, agree he has matured into a technically brilliant rider. We aim to attend all rounds of the AMA season and have several pending additional sponsorships,” Robbins said. Robbins has been involved in road racing since 1993, and will manage Narbonne’s 2008 AMA season as a Team Owner, along with Joe Capelli, who will serve as Crew Chief. Capelli also brings years of racing experience to the program in addition to his fabricating and CNC machining capabilities. The bikes will be built 100% in-house from chassis development to paint and graphics. Engine building and tuning will be done by Ducati Hall Of Fame engine builder/tuner Bruce Meyers, former owner and founder of BCM Ducati in Laconia, New Hampshire. Commonwealth Motorsports of Louisville, Kentucky will be involved with the Triumph 675s in conjunction with Bruce Meyers. Narbonne won three Class Championships and four second-place spots in the premier classes of the highly competitive LRRS/CCS program. In addition, while riding only limited events, Narbonne scored enough points to finish third in ASRA Pro Sportbike and fifth in ASRA Superbike. Shane began racing in 1997 as a Flat Tracker and collected several Championships before making the switch to road racing. He has enjoyed the support of his father Al Narbonne, whose relentless dedication to Shane’s career has netted many accolades and opportunities for his son. S-Works, LLC will offer quality components and on-demand access to custom-built racebikes for a select clientele of track and race enthusiasts. A Ducati 1098 Tri-Colore based racebike will travel with the S-Works racing team as a showcase of S-Works’ capabilities. Plans are in development for components for the upcoming Ducati Desmosedici RR. “We hope to have our Desmosedici soon and will get started immediately with product development,” said Robbins.
