Triumph ParkinGO European Series was launched at the “Ricardo Tormo” circuit of Comunidad Valenciana. The event started with a press conference held by Paul Taylor, PR and Racing Activities Manager for Triumph and Giuliano Rovelli, ParkinGO CEO of the Oasihandling group, who described the championship’s characteristics, which was also made possible by the collaboration with Infront and the UEM federation. The challenge will get underway in three weeks time at the Valencia circuit and will include seven of ten World Superbike rounds, which will be held on the main European circuits. The Street Triple R was presented at the launch, a historic bike for the Triumph manufacturer, which impressed the riders and journalists attending the event with its great handling and easy riding in its racing version. Factory Team Triumph BE1 Racing was also presented during the same press conference. The squad will race in the 2010 Supersport World Championship with four great riders: Chaz Davies, David Salom, Jason DiSalvo and the newly acquired Matthieu Lagrive, who all rode the Street Triple R as did the riders who will battle for the trophy. Calendar: April 11 Spain Valencia April 25 Holland Assen May 9 Italy Monza June 27 San Marino Misano August 1 UK Donington Park September 5 Germany Nurburgring October 3 France Magny Cours Giuliano Rovelli: “It’s a great satisfaction to see this project come to life. First of all we offer all riders the opportunity to go pro: the winner will take part to the European Supersport finale held at Albacete, where he will be assisted by the Triumph factory team and will get the chance to prove himself at an important venue. We wanted to have a set of regulations that would guarantee technical equality. In fact, all riders will race on the same type of bike with identical tyres and so the man will make the difference not the machine. The media partners of the competition will also help boost each rider’s sponsor image as Eurosport will broadcast the highlights and Virgin Radio will air live portions of the races , not to mention the bike media. However, the most important of all is the attendance which, on average, is 70000 people at Superbike rounds”.
