Factory Ducati MotoGP racer Nicky Hayden underwent successful surgery at the hands of Dr. Arthur Ting Monday, November 22 in Fremont, California, to relieve symptoms related to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, which made the former MotoGP World Champion’s right hand go numb at times during the second half of the 2010 season. “It was kind of intermittent, not every race, but it started at Laguna [Seca]. That was the first time it happened in forever,” Hayden told Roadracingworld.com Tuesday. Hayden and his younger brother Roger Hayden both had Carpal Tunnel Syndrome surgery on both of their wrists in 2001. “It wasn’t a big problem,” Nicky Hayden continued, “but end of the season I just wanted to get it right. I’ve got time to let it heal right, not have to rush it. I definitely don’t want to have to think about it going into next year.” Hayden said the next time he is scheduled to ride his Ducati Desmosedici MotoGP bike is February 1, at Sepang, in Malaysia, leaving him more than enough time to have a complete recovery to full fitness.
