FIRST PERSON/OPINION By Steve Atlas On April 4th we reported that, as we were told by a track spokesperson, Mid-Ohio would host a half-day practice for AMA riders run by Sportbike Track Time on July 21st, the Thursday prior to the AMA National. But, in a phone interview today with Roadracingworld.com, Bonnie Strawser at Sportbike Track Time said that the event is actually a BMW-sponsored private track day and there will in fact be no AMA rider practice. Once again, privateers who were unable to get into factory team tests at Mid-Ohio get the short end of the stick. And as they struggle to set up their bikes in the official AMA practice sessions that start on Friday, privateers can look forward to the wrath of a few very vocal factory riders who will claim they’re in the way.
