Official Obituary For Steve Young, Racer Blake Young’s Father

Young, Steven M. MADISON/ WAUNAKEE – Steven M. Young, age 49, died unexpectedly on Sunday, July 9, 2006, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born on Jan. 29, 1957, in Green Bay, the son of Richard and Bonnie Young. Steven grew up in Madison and attended La Follette High School, graduating with the class of 1975. He was devoted to the Young family businesses including, Young America and the White House Restaurant. Steven was dedicated to spending time with his family and participating in many outdoor activities with them. He was a strong supporter of American Motorcycle Association and encouraged many others to participate. Steven enjoyed taking his sons racing and most recently encouraging his daughter, Stephanie to participate in ice racing. He is survived by his two sons, Jon Hanson of North Carolina, and Blake Young of Waunakee; a daughter, Stephanie Young of Waunakee; a granddaughter, Taylor Hanson; his parents, Richard and Bonnie Young of Madison; a sister, Holly Wing of Cottage Grove; a brother, Tom Young of Baraboo; two nieces, Heather and Melissa Wing; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Steven was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Isabelle and Walter Young; maternal grandparents, Paul and Carole Belleau; and Great-Grandma McGrath. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, July 12, 2006, with Father Brian Wilk presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., on Tuesday, July 11, 2006, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family, for a memorial to be established for his children.
