The Oregon Motorcycle Road Racing Association (OMRRA) announces its yearly Vintage Day races, Saturday July 24 at Portland International Raceway. In addition to the normal OMRRA full motorcycle race program, Vintage Days includes a LeMans-style start of mid-1960s Honda CB160s and CB175s. Last time vintage Hondas raced with a dead-motor start at PIR, a grid of 43 bikes headed together toward turn one. The winner of that race, Joe Pethoud, owner of Vicious Cycle, is expected to defend his crown against reigning OMRRA 250 Vintage overall champ Jeff Lavalee and WMRRA winner Mick Hart. Also on track will be 500cc and Open vintage racers. Look for early 70’s superbikes on those grids including classic BMWs, Moto Guzzis, Nortons and Hondas from California, Oregon, Washington and British Columbia. Gates open at 7:00 a.m. and race motors start at 9:00. Entry forms, discount gate entry coupons and more information about Oregon motorcycle racing can be found at www.omrra.com, and details about PIR are at www.portlandraceway.com.
