Daytona SportBike Basic Qualifying is currently on hold at Mid-Ohio due to rain falling on the 2.4-mile road course. Daytona SportBike Group A (the faster group) riders were due to go out for qualifying at 1:20 p.m. local time, but officials have delayed the start of the session because of the rain. “We are extremely sensitive to the racing surface here in the wet,” AMA Pro Racing Director of Road Racing Bill Syfan told competitors during Friday’s rider’s meeting. “We understand that it is very slick when wet. We will evaluate situations with all the tools we can at the time, but if it’s a wet track we will make every attempt to get it dry before we continue.”
