Bernat MARTINEZ (Yam YZF-R6) 1:39.101 More, from a press release issued by Winston Ten Kate Honda: VOS MAKES PROGRESS AS SOFUOGLU STRUGGLES UNDER THE MISANO SUN Standing in for regular team rider Sebastien Charpentier, Arie Vos (Winston Ten Kate Honda) posted a 13th best time out of 37 riders in the sizzling hot opening qualifying session at Misano, with more to come in the final qualifying session on Saturday 24th June. His team-mate for the weekend, Kenan Sofuoglu (Winston Ten Kate Honda) made a disappointing start to his Misano weekend, running only 24th fastest. With air temperatures over 31°C and track temperatures of 53°C, Misano was a pressure cooker on day one, and the action on the track was made all the more frenetic after the session had to be stopped and momentarily restarted in the aftermath of a crash, close to the completion of the session. Ronald Ten Kate – Team Manager “It’s very strange for us not to have Sebastien Charpentier here at this race but I hope he will be back with us soon. It was a good first day for Arie, at what is a very hot Misano. His is more or less used to the bike but the tyres are quite different from the ones he runs with in the national championships, and working with the team is a little bit different for him too. He did very well and for sure he will improve tomorrow. We are surprised to see Kenan that far back when he showed his speed at the recent Brno tests. He was with the fastest guys there, so we will have a good look at the data to see exactly what is happening there. It is not the position where he would prefer to be, so we need to make some adjustments there to get him further up the grid tomorrow.” Arie Vos Winston Ten Kate Honda Rider (13th position Fastest lap time 1’38.879) “Not bad today but there are some important places on this track where if you get them right you can go really fast, and there were some things I did wrong today. After we look at the split times and the data we can improve for tomorrow and for sure I can go faster. Gerrit Ten Kate and my brother went on to the track and they watched me at various places, so they can give me some advice. The goal for tomorrow is the second row, that would be nice.” Kenan Sofuoglu Winston Ten Kate Honda Rider (24th position Fastest lap time 1’39.756) “It’s a shame to be not so fast after the good test at Brno so we will have to look at the data and find out where and why I am losing time. I tried everything today but when I see a result like this it makes it very difficult for me. This is not me; my position is not 24th. If I am fifth or fourth I can understand but 24th I really can’t understand. I have put in 100% in preparation for this and I will keep working right through to Sunday.” RESULTS QUALIFYING 1: 1. Sofuoglu – Winston Ten Kate Honda – 1’39.756 More, from a press release issued by SC Caracchi: HOT WEATHER DOMINATES MISANO Very hot weather for the first practice day at Misano’s Santamonica circuit, stage of the sixth WSBK Championship round. Roberto Rolfo worked most looking at the bike set up and the final result made quite satisfied the rider of SC Caracchi 999F05 Ducati, who recorded the eleventh fastest after being for long time in the top ten group, from which he went out just in the final minute of qualifying. “Today has been a positive day, we worked well just from this morning to select a good setteng of the rear and to improve the traction.” said at the end of the day Roberto Rolfo. “Today it was very hat, 53°C on the asphalt surface, the track was quite slippery, but I found well in the morning, with a good pace, and the work we done got god fruits, because at the end I recorded also a good lap time. During the afternoon we focused in the race set up, looking for a consistent pace. At the end of the session we improved also the lap time; I could be faster because the track was free, but I’ve done a small mistake at Carro corner, a decisive for a fast lap. However I’m satisfied for thi first day as well for the job made with the team.” Luka Nedog showed some improvement signal, but the young Slovenian is not jet totally satisfied for his practice. “I started in the morning with caution, because the sign of the test’s crash here in Misano is still fresh in my mind.” commented at the end of qualifying session Luka Nedog “The bike performs well; today we focused our work on rear setting, until now our feebler point, with the selection of the tyre, and we got a small improvement. Tomorrow we’ll see to improve the traction too and look a better lap time to earn some position.” Black day for Stuart Easton: he crashed after half of the qualifying session in the last corner, luckily withouth physical consequences. “During morning’s session the bike was running very well, was easily handling and I was quite satisfied.” said a disappointed Easton at the end of the day “For consequence I decided to use the morning’s set up also for afternoon’s qualifying. But during the afternoon practice the bike didn’t perform any more, I was quite a couple of seconds slower, and I didn’t know why. Probably the track temperature, quite warmer as during the morning, made the track slippery, most in the final portion. So just I tried to push I crashed, losing the front. I found this circuit quite strange, it looks to be easy, but to be fast is very difficult. Tomorrow we’ll have to work hardly, because this afternoon actually we’ve lost a session.” Supersport Friday Qualifying 34. NEDOG Luka Ducati 749R Scuderia SC Caracchi 1’40.955 37.
