TORONTO, Ont. (April 8) Appearances by top Canadian racers, silent auctions, sport bike seminars and motorcycle race bike displays will be among the highlights of the Parts Canada Superbike Championship Preview Day scheduled for Saturday, April 18 at On The Park in Toronto. The event has been organized as a fundraiser for the Andrew Trevitt Fund and the Canadian Rider Safety Fund. Trevitt, a former top North American 250 Grand Prix racer and Suzuki factory rider in Canada, was severely injured in a street bike accident near his current home of Los Angeles late last year. The event will also serve as the launch of the Canadian Rider Safety Fund, which has been established by longtime racer and event organizer John Bickle to raise money to maintain and transport the supply of Alpina Air Module safety barriers used at each Parts Canada Superbike Championship round, as well as research and implement new safety programs in Canadian road racing. The Parts Canada Superbike Championship Preview Day is being organized by veteran road racer Pat Barnes and longtime motorsports announcer Pat Gonsalves. “This is a tremendous opportunity to raise money for two very worthy causes as well as celebrate the start of a new season of racing in Canada,” Gonsalves said. “Andrew Trevitt has a lot of friends in this community while the Canadian Rider Safety Fund is an excellent initiative that should bring many ongoing benefits to the sport.” The roster of racers due to attend the Preview Day includes six-time Canadian Superbike champion Steve Crevier, defending and five-time Parts Canada Superbike champ Jordan Szoke, two-time national champion Michael Taylor, rising star Matt McBride and defending Armour Bodies Amateur Sport Bike champion Jodi Christie. The day will include autograph sessions, racing videos, two giant silent auctions in support of Trevitt and the Canadian Rider Safety Fund, the Golo Girls and umbrella ladies, and the Victory Podium Photo Zone. The event will run from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at On The Park, and there will be a VIP dinner from 7:00-9:00 p.m. that evening. Tickets for the dinner are available by contacting Barnes at [email protected]. On The Park is located at 1095 Leslie Street, at the corner of Leslie Street and Eglinton Ave. East. Admission and parking are free. Donations to help with Trevitt’s medical and rehabilitation costs can also be made to the ‘Getwelltrev fund’, c/o Andrew Trevitt, 1119 Linden Ave. #2, Glendale, CA, 91201.
