Pascarella Takes Another AFM Formula Pacific Victory, At Sonoma Raceway

After a long summer break, the CT Racing Pirelli/GPR/GoPro AFM series jumped right back into action at Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, CA, on September 5-6. The two-month break gave all the riders plenty of time to work on their programs and get ready for the last half of the season.

Joey Pascarella was looking to extend his winning streak and a qualifying run in the 1:38s ensured that he would start the premier class Dunlop Race Tire Service Formula Pacific Race from the Pole. Pascarella switched back to his Yamaha YZF-R6 for this round after running the 2015 Yamaha YZF-R1 in the previous round at Thunderhill Raceway.

When the green dropped, Cory Call got the holeshot on his BMW S1000RR, with Joey Pascarella close behind. The two riders quickly dropped into the 1:38s while a four-way battle for third place between Chris Siglin, Sebastiao Ferreira, Deion Campbell and Andy DiBrino shaped up that would last the duration of the race. Siglin was back on his BMW S1000RR, Campbell on his Yamaha YZF-R6 and DiBrino on a Suzuki GSX-R1000 while Ferreira appeared on the 2015 Yamaha YZF-R1 that he debuted at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca round of the MotoAmerica AMA series.

The attention of the fans was split between Call and Pascarella up front, as Call held off the Daytona 200 champion Pascarella lap after lap, until Pascarella finally shot past Call heading into turn 9. In the battle for third place. Siglin, Ferreira and Campbell switched positions lap after lap as DiBrino clung on to the group, looking to capitalize on any mistakes. Late in the race, Campbell went down in turn 7 and the dash for the last podium spot continued.

When the checkered flag flew at the end of the race, Pascarella once again crossed the line first with Call behind him. Ferreira and Siglin continued to give the fans an exciting race right up until the end, with Ferreira ultimately taking the final spot on the podium.

Campbell and Call were once again standouts, with four wins a piece.
