Internet news outlets today are reporting that Pat Clark Motorsports may soon announce a deal in which the private team will swap the Yamaha YZF-R1s it raced in the 2010 AMA Pro Superbike Championship for Kawasaki ZX-10Rs while adding Eric Bostrom to its rider lineup of Ben Bostrom and Chris Clark, but those reports are premature. Ben Bostrom, who is currently in New Zealand for a mountain bike race, answered a voicemail inquiry from Roadracingworld.com Wednesday with a text message that read: “Don’t believe the news.” According to a reliable source with direct knowledge of the team’s situation but who asked to remain anonymous due to the sensitivity of the situation, Pat Clark Motorsports has had discussions with other manufacturers, including Kawasaki, regarding the 2011 season, but Yamaha holds the first right of refusal to extend its relationship with Pat Clark Motorsports next season and to date Yamaha has yet to give the team its final decision, according to the source. A call to Yamaha Motor Corp., U.S.A. Racing Division Manager Keith McCarty was not immediately returned Wednesday.
