Pat Murphy has left his job as Director of Business Operations for the Grand American Road Racing sports car series based in Daytona Beach and has returned to California. Murphy was a key figure in the growth of CCS and the development of CCS-sanctioned 600cc Supersport and 750cc Supersport classes at AMA Nationals, working with Roger Edmondson. He was also involved in founding the NASB Series when Edmondson’s joint venture with AMA Pro Racing came apart, and later joined Edmondson at ISC (International Speedway Corporation)-owned Grand American Road Racing when the NASB Series failed. Murphy is battling cancer. Grand American Road Racing issued the following press release on Friday, April 15: Patrick Murphy, Grand American’s Director of Business Operations, has asked us to send a note on his behalf announcing that he has left the company and has returned to his home in California on medical-related leave. He has rejoined his family in central California as of today and plans to spend the near future relaxing and spending time with friends and relatives. As all of you know, Pat has been a key part of the Grand American organization since its inception and I know all of you join us in wishing him well and keeping him in your thoughts and prayers. Any cards or notes that you would like to have sent Pat’s way can be sent to his attention at Grand American headquarters in Daytona Beach. On a professional basis, if you were working with Pat on a particular project or area of business within Grand American, please feel free to contact Roger Edmondson, Mark Raffauf, Greg Otte, Adam Saal or other members of the Grand American team. Take care and thank you for your cooperation.
