The Kawasaki Superbike Racing Team heads for the Macau Grand Prix this forthcoming weekend hoping that the trio of riders can emerge successful on the 6.12km Circuito Da Guia. Team owner Paul Bird has just the one victory to his name, which came courtesy of John McGuinness in 2001, but this year with a truly international flair aboard the factory-backed Kawasaki ZX-10Rs, the team is well placed to add to the tally. Last year’s pole setter, Conor Cummins, returns to Macau for the third time, and the 23-year-old Manxman is making his debut on the www.supercasino.com, Vent-Axia, Henleys and Kick Energy-backed Ninja and with two podium places at the TT and a victory and lap record at the Ulster Grand Prix, he starts as one of the favourites. Joining Cummins in the PBM team are multiple AMA champion Mike Barnes from the USA, and Yorkshireman Ian Hutchinson, who last year finished fifth and seventh, respectively. ‘Hutchy’ had a very successful Isle of Man TT this year, with the 30 year old from Bingley taking victory in both the Supersport TT and Superstock TT races whereas Floridian Barnes achieved his best Macau result since 1993 last year and will be looking to improve even further this year.
