From a press release issued by Repsol Media Service: For 2008 the Repsol rider changes his old No. 26 for No. 2, after his results at the world championship last season. This year, Dani Pedrosa will no longer wear the No. 26 the Repsol Honda Team rider was always identified with. During the 2008 season, the rider from Castellar de Vallès will sport a No. 2 on the bodywork of his bike, thanks to the second position clinched in the 2007 World Championship. Two victories and great regularity which always maintained him among the favourites of the top category, have allowed the Repsol rider rise from Rookie in 2006 to World MotoGP runner-up in 2007. Pedrosa retakes a tradition in World motorcycling, which dictates that a rider bear the number that reflects the victories obtained during the previous twelve months. It is further proof of his intentions for the season that kicks off next March 9th in Qatar, his way of warning that in 2008, he is only one step away and there is only one acceptable result: the one which will allow him to bear No. 1 when this World Championship sees the checkered flag fall again.
