Former AMA Superbike race winner Larry Pegram will race Ducati 749Rs on Dunlops in the 2007 AMA Formula Xtreme Championship. The machines will feature Ducati Corse race-kitted engines modified to take advantage of the AMA technical rule allowing water-cooled V-Twins an 850cc displacement limit, and the effort will be backed by Ducati North America. Pegram planned to be at the Dunlop tire test at Daytona International Speedway, but his bikes were delayed in U.S. Customs. “We just picked them up [Monday] night in Chicago,” Pegram told Roadracingworld.com. “The earliest we could’ve been in Daytona was Wednesday morning, and that’s if we drove straight through. Plus, we need to get to work on the engines.”
