IRON HORSE BMW/ ESP SUPERBIKE STEPS UP DEVELOPMENT AT WERA LAS VEGAS (Las Vegas, NV) “” The Iron Horse BMW/Evan Steel Performance Superbike continued its evolution from showroom stock to Superbike weapon in WERA competition at Las Vegas Speedway over the weekend. Chris Peris and the ESP crew were continuing to familiarize themselves with the BMW S1000RR Superbike and fine tune its setup. The solo endurance race on Saturday was the first action for the Iron Horse BMW/ ESP team and they didn’t disappoint. Gridded from the sixth row, Chris nailed the start and was immediately tearing through traffic. By the halfway point of the race, he was inside the top ten and running a pace of consistent 1:16’s around the 1.8 mile Las Vegas circuit. At the finish line, Peris had established a sizable gap on the S1000RR where his nearest competitor was fifty six seconds back. Sunday’s action would consist of two six lap sprint races, Formula One and A Superbike. Both these races would see Peris gridded on the fifth row. In the Formula One race, Peris got a great start and was ripping through traffic in an attempt to catch pole sitter Jeremy Toye. From his fifth row grid position, Chris was inside the top five by the end of the second lap. By the end of the third lap, Chris had caught and passed Toye. Peris and Toye broke away from the rest of the leaders and were running at record pace with Chris turning a 1:15.501. The two leaders battled all the way to the line with Peris crossing first, a mere .171 seconds ahead of Toye. In A Superbike, Peris again nailed the start on his S1000RR and was quickly slicing up traffic. By lap three, he was in the lead and pulling away. At the stripe, he was five seconds ahead of second and celebrating his third and final victory of the weekend. The S1000RR is now back at the ESP shop in Tucson, AZ where the crew is continuing to work on the overall package and trying to gather the necessary funding to participate in the AMA Superbike Infineon round. Phil Allison: “Chris is really fun to watch. We didn’t really make any huge adjustments or add horsepower since Fontana, he’s just really starting to figure the bike out. He was gridded on the fifth row in those races and just ripped through the field. Watching that black Iron Horse BMW coming down the front straight was pretty awesome, it just looked menacing”¦I liked it.” Chris Peris: “Every time I ride the BMW it just gets better and better. Phil made a few adjustments to the suspension that really helped out the grip and the let me take advantage of the S1000RR’s handling. I was able to get through the field pretty quickly and adjust my lines mid corner when it was necessary to make a pass. I can’t wait to race the bike again and show what it can do.” Team Iron Horse BMW/ ESP Win on Sunday, sell on Monday. Team Iron Horse BMW/ ESP was created to maximize the strengths of both organizations. Iron Horse BMW is focused on their customers’ ownership experience.
