Robertino Pietri qualified on pole for this weekend’s Latin American Championship races, setting a new lap record of 1:29.220 at Autodroma Internationale de San Carlos in Venezuela. Pietri is riding an AMA-Superstock-legal Roadracingworld.com Suzuki GSX-R1000 in the event, which features two FMV Venezuelan Superbike Championship races that count toward the FIM Latin American Championship. Saturday afternoon thunderstorms and schedule delays resulted in the first of the two planned Superbike races being moved to Sunday. Weather for Sunday looks promising. AMA Supersport regular Armando Ferrer won Saturday’s 600cc Supersport race by 12 seconds on a wet but drying track.
