Pietri Signs To Race In 2010 Moto2 World Championship

Venezuelan Robertino Pietri, age 24, has signed a contract to race in the 2010 Moto2 World Championship for Sprint Racing Technologies, SRL. “I’m super excited to have a job for next year, especially this job that I found,” Pietri told Roadracingworld.com at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. “We have been trying to do this [go to the World Championships] for a while. After every season there are opportunities like this, but they never come through. This one is Massimo Biagini, and when they put the paper in front of me I didn’t hesitate to sign it. “I think the team is capable of making a competitive machine. We know the engines are all going to be the same, so that’s a big plus. We think the chassis will be very, very competitive, and I can’t wait to go overseas and test it. We’re going to do a couple of tests in November. I can’t wait for the season to start.” Sprint Racing Technologies, SRL, is based in San Marino and will be run by Massimo Biagini, who is currently the Chief Mechanic for Metis Gilera’s Roberto Locatelli. The team will develop its own chassis, according to Biagini. A primary sponsor has already been confirmed but will not be announced until after the current season ends. Pietri currently races for the ESP/Venemotos Yamaha team in the AMA Pro Daytona SportBike Championship.
