AMA regular Robertino Pietri, age 23, will race in rounds three and four of the six-round GSX-R750 European Cup, June 15 at Nurburgring, in Germany, and June 29 at Misano, in San Marino, according to a press release issued by Pietri’s publicist. Both rounds will be held in conjunction with FIM Superbike World Championship events. The GSX-R750 European Cup is a spec series using lightly-modified Suzuki GSX-R750s and Pirelli control tires and open to points-scoring riders under the age of 25; wild cards are not subject to the age control, which explains why Jeremy McWilliams is entered as a celebrity wild card at the Nurburgring. Teams are fielded by Suzuki importers of various European countries, and the Suzuki Germany team asked Venezuelan Pietri to ride its bikes in Germany and San Marino. Pietri has no previous experience at Nurburgring, but he has raced at Misano before. Pietri’s next AMA race is July 18-20 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
