Plenty To See And Do At This Weekend’s Kawasaki AMA Superbike Showdown At Infineon Raceway

SONOMA, Calif. (May 11, 2009) If it races on two wheels, you’re likely to see it at Infineon Raceway during the Kawasaki AMA Superbike Showdown, presented by Supercuts, May 15-17. In addition to double-header action in Superbike and Daytona SportBike, the weekend will also feature Supermoto USA, AMA Pro XTRM Supermoto Championships, SBFreaks Street Freestyle and more. There are a variety of promotions, media events and charitable activities planned to keep spectators and fans entertained throughout the weekend. The ride will leave from Leo Vince’s headquarters in Richmond and tour through the twists and turns of the beautiful Sonoma Valley before winding up at Infineon Raceway. Supermoto and SBFreaks Street Freestyle Action Highly-popular supermoto and SBFreaks Street Freestyle will return for a fourth consecutive year to the big AMA weekend. This year, Supermoto USA and the AMA Pro XTRM Supermoto Championship will combine for three days of action on the lightning-quick kart track, while Street Freestyle will again be located in the Turn 10 island. Jason Britton Stunt Shows Jason Britton, best known for hosting “Super Bikes!” on SPEED, will perform four exciting shows during the weekend. Britton, who rides for Kawasaki’s Team Green, is an expert rider and will show off his skills inside the Turn 10 island on Saturday, May 16, at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 17, at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. World’s Largest Rideable Motorcycle Stockton resident Gregory Dunham will bring out the World’s Largest Rideable Motorcycle to Sonoma for the race weekend. The bike stands 11 feet, 3 inches high and weighs 6,500 pounds. He built the bike at a cost of $300,000. His bike is recognized in the Guiness Book of World Records. Look for him motoring around the property! Motorcycle Manufacturer Demo Rides Kawasaki, Buell and KTM will provide manufacturer demo rides throughout the weekend, featuring their entire lineup of motorcycles. Vintage Motorcycle Display The Japanese Motorcycle Heritage Foundation will host a vintage motorcycle display in the paddock all weekend. AMA Pro Rider Autograph Session This is your chance to get an autograph from your favorite rider in the AMA Pro Road Racing Series. The autograph session will take place on Sunday at 12:15 p.m. Riders will be available for autographs below the main grandstand. Motorsports Midway Infineon Raceway features a bustling Motorsports Midway, featuring after-market products, food, beverage and entertainment options. Ducati also returns featuring its 2009 product line in the paddock. Motorcycle Art Show The Infineon Technologies Business Center will be site for the 4th annual Motorcycle Art Show. Admission is free to the gallery, which will feature artwork from a variety of artists and area photographers. Track Talk Race fans are invited to take part in question-and-answer sessions with top riders in the Wine Country Winner’s Circle throughout the weekend. Sessions will be held at 12:30 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Motorcycle Charity Auction The Wine Country Winner’s Circle will be the place to be at 11 a.m. on Sunday morning for the 6th annual Motorcycle Charity Auction. Motorcycle fans can bid on a variety of signed memorabilia, including helmets, boots, gloves and pictures. The event raised nearly $6,000 in 2008 for Speedway Children’s Charities, the charitable arm of Infineon Raceway. AAA Designated Driver Program Come by the AAA Designated Driver Program booth on Sunday to become a designated driver for your group.
