Italian company Polini has been confirmed as the title sponsor for the seventeenth round of the 2007 MotoGP World Championship on October 21st, the Polini Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix. Polini are one of the leading manufacturers of tuning parts for both mopeds and scooters, in addition to cylinders and variators for racing and road use. The company has its main office in Alzano Lombardo near Bergamo, and leads production of two-stroke minibikes and minicross, and four-stroke motard-cross machines for racing (110cc) and street (125cc) use. It was founded in the mid-20th century and has previously sponsored the 2006 MotoGP round in China. The Polini Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix will be the penultimate round of the MotoGP World Championship calendar, and has the potential to be one of the most exciting races of the season in the first Grand Prix visit to Sepang since the introduction of the 800cc MotoGP machines. It is also the final race of the 2007 season to take place outside of Europe.
