BOBBY FONG AND LATUS MOTORS RACING KICK OFF INAUGURAL MOTOAMERICA SEASON AT CIRCUIT OF THE AMERICAS
ATLANTA (April, 2015) – Triumph’s 2015 MotoAmerica professional road racing campaign begins this weekend in Austin, Texas at Circuit of the Americas, in conjunction with MotoGP, April 10–12. The spectacular 20-turn, 3.4-mile Grand Prix track is sure to provide an exciting weekend for racers and spectators alike.
Bobby Fong will be piloting the #50 Latus Motors Racing / Castrol / Triumph Daytona 675R in the Supersport class. Fong is no stranger to his team or the 675R’s triple cylinder engine as it will be his second season with Latus Motors Racing and third year competing on the Triumph.
“I am really excited to be back with Latus Motors Racing Castrol Triumph again this year! I feel very confident heading into the weekend with my team. I have been working very hard in the off-season, both at the gym and developing the 675R,” said Bobby Fong. “We had great test results this winter and we’re excited to get the season underway in Austin. I’d also like to thank my sponsors: Castrol, Triumph Motorcycles, Latus Motors, Cortech, Shoei, Helimot, K-Tech Suspension, Dynojet Research, Cafe Racer XXX and Grifter Company.”
Fong had great preseason form during the Dunlop Tire test at the Circuit Of The Americas in March, finishing with the third fastest time in his class. He and the Latus Motors Racing team have worked hard to build a championship contender this season launching off the results of last season, highlighted by a win in the GEICO Motorcycle Superbike Shootout at Auto Club Speedway in April.
“The excitement surrounding the start of the MotoAmerica 2015 season is tempered by the loss of Dane Westby, a member of our racing family. Dane’s spirit will live on with all of us. Godspeed Dane,” said George Latus, team owner. “The Latus Motors Racing Castrol Triumph team worked hard during the off season in order to get the Triumph Daytona 675R compliant with the new MotoAmerica rules package. Meanwhile, #50 Bobby Fong continued his rigorous program of physical conditioning and we’re ready. Circuit of the Americas is a new venue for us and to say we’re impressed with this facility is an understatement. Let’s go racing!”
The 12-lap MotoAmerica Supersport race will be held on Saturday, April 11, at 4:15 p.m. CDT and televised on CBS Sports Network on April 19. New Series, New Team, New Track for Ben Young
AUSTIN, TEXAS – APRIL 9, 2015 – This weekend Scottish-born Canadian resident Ben Young will return to race in the United States in the new MotoAmerica AMA/FIM North American Road Racing series with his new team RoadRace Factory. This will be Young’s first race at Circuit of The Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas.
The 2015 MotoAmerica season debuts on April 10-12 when the stars of U.S motorcycle road racing return to COTA to join the MotoGP stars at the Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas.
After a season in the MCE British Superbike (BSB) Championships’ Pirelli Superstock 1000 Class the resident of Thornbury Ontario Canada will pilot the RoadRace Factory prepared Yamaha YZFR6 in the 2015 Supersport Championship.
The first of the action will start on Thursday, April 9 as the MotoAmerica championship season kicks off with three of its classes serving as the support races for the MotoGP weekend.
Young, who’s only had an opportunity to test at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) last month, will need to get up to speed quickly. Adapting to new circuits has always been one of his strengths and with RoadRace Factory team’s knowledge and technical expertise there is very little that can hold him back from being competitive.
Ben Young: “It seems like it’s been a longer than normal off season but I’ve used that time to train and reconnect with friends and family after a season in the UK. The RoadRace Factory R6 felt great at the COTA test. I’m so stoked to get this season started and to catch up with the fans and many fellow racers I haven’t seen in over a year.”
All MotoAmerica races are being televised in the US and Canada on the CBS Sports Network, during the weekend afternoons and in primetime with event highlights, features, and other content on Motor Trend OnDemand at MotorTrendOnDemand.com.
Last year Young participated in the Laps 4 MD fundraising initiative for the final two rounds of the BSB Superstock 1000 Championship in support of Muscular Dystrophy Canada. Young will continue his support in 2015 and “Race for the Cure” by donating one dollar for each lap lead in this year’s MotoAmerica Supersport races.
Young is proud to represent his personal sponsors; Scot-Build Developments Inc., Tim Hortons (Sudbury), AXO America and Bell Helmets.

HOLLAND, Mich. (April, 2015) — With the first MotoAmerica race happening this weekend we are sad to say we will not be competing in the 2015 MotoAmerica AMA/FIM North American Road Racing Championship. We had a great couple of years racing at the top level, but unfortunately we were not able to find the manufacturer support needed to race in the first year of the new MotoAmerica series.
We are looking at options and have already spoken with a few manufacturers about racing again in 2016. Hopefully we will be back in 2016 and provide the series with another top-notch team. Until then, we want to wish the best of luck to all teams and riders competing in this year’s championship.
Riders Discount would like to thank all of our sponsors: Triumph Motorcycles, Speed and Strength, Akrapovic, Attack Performance, Renthal, Andrew Swenson Design, Zero Gravity, GB Racing, Capit Performance, Motion Pro, Saddlemen, DynoJet, DrippinWet.com, Fast Frank Racing, Spiegler, Castrol, and Sharkskinz Racing Bodies.
