Puerta Breaks Track Record, Wins Latin American Superbike Championship In Colombia

Tomas Puerta wins and breaks track record in Colombia.

Colombian rider Tomas Puerta is the new Latin American Champion of SuperBike after winning both races and the overall this past weekend, December 5-6, at Autodromo de Tocancipá in Colombia.

Tomas, age 23, rode a BMW S1000RR and with a 1:09.57 lap time broke the track record held by Martin Cardenas on a Suzuki GSX-R1000 at 1:09.69.

“It was a really good weekend for us racing in Colombia,” said Puerta. ” It was a dream to race SuperBike in Colombia and my personal sponsors give me this opportunity and I’m happy to give them back the victory and the track record.”

This was his last race of 2015 season and we look forward to see Tomas racing in MotoAmerica in 2016.
