Qtel Extends Deal As Title Sponsor Of FIM Endurance World Championship

The FIM (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme) has the pleasure to announce the extension of the partnership with the Qatar Telecom Company Qtel. This agreement is for the next 3 years until 2011, and confirms Qtel’s status as being the title partner of the Qtel FIM Endurance World Championship. Qatar Telecom (Qtel) is the telecommunications service provider licensed by the Supreme Council of Information and Communication Technology (ict QATAR) to provide both fixed and mobile telecommunications services in the state of Qatar. Qtel has a presence in 17 countries, and is committed to expansion both in the Middle East and North Africa region and South East Asia. In total, Qtel provides coverage to a population in excess of 560 million people, with 57.5 million consolidated subscribers. Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Attiyah, QMMF President: “The interest for the mechanical sports is very important in Qatar and is in constant progression. I am really very happy about this new contract between Qtel and the International Motorcycling Federation for the 2009-2011 FIM Endurance World Championship. Our engagement in Endurance enables us to progress in our training of this motorcycle competition and we thus gradually hope to be able to be more involved. It is recognized as the sole competent authority in motorcycle sport by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Among its 49 FIM World Championships its main events are MotoGP, Superbike, Endurance, Motocross, Supercross, Trial, Enduro and Speedway. FIM also deals with non-sporting matters such as leisure motorcycling, mobility, transport, road safety and public policy and the environment, FIM was the first International sporting Federation to enforce an Environmental Code in 1994.
