Veteran road race mechanic Dennis Zickrick was seriously injured Tuesday morning in a crash on the Bonneville Salt Flats. Zickrick, who has worked with dozens of professional riders over a 30-year time period, was injured when the Lakester he was driving flipped. His injuries include two broken bones, broken ribs and a broken vertebra in his neck. According to his wife, Sandy, Zickrick has not suffered spinal cord damage; he will undergo surgery to plate compound fractures in the bones of one arm later today. Zickrick has been working at AMA Pro races with M4 EMGO Suzuki’s Michael Beck this season. When not at the racetrack, Zickrick owns and runs SuperTech in Windsor, Colorado.
