Josh Chisum, no time recorded More, from a press release issued by Geiger Media on behalf of GEICO: Points leader Fillmore qualifies fourth on GEICO Harley in Alabama BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (June 18) — Championship points leader Chris Fillmore secured the No. 4 spot on the starting grid for Sunday’s Vance & Hines XR1200 race at Barber Motorsports Park. The GEICO/Richie Morris Racing rider was second quickest during Saturday’s first practice session but slowed to fourth in Round 2, although he didn’t seem too concerned. “We’re on the front row for tomorrow and that’s the most important thing,” Fillmore said. “I’m not exactly sure why we slowed but we’ll figure it out in morning practice and make sure we’re as fast as we can be for the race.” “It’s been proven time and again that you can win from any spot. As long as we’re in there tomorrow, we have as good of a shot as anybody to get the win.” Fillmore’s GEICO teammate Kyle Wyman also qualified for Sunday’s race by earning the sixth spot for the Richie Morris Racing team. However, his qualifying efforts were cut short when he crashed his GEICO Harley in Turn 6. Wyman was unhurt in the incident. “I just thought I could cut in a little deeper but I obviously couldn’t,” Wyman said. “It happens but we’ll get the bike back together and I’ll just have to regroup tonight so I can come back here tomorrow ready to race.” Fellow GEICO rider Michael Corbino, who is currently seventh in the championship standings, earned the 13th qualifying spot. The young rider injured his foot in a crash during last weekend’s race at Road America and feels that his riding was hindered because of it. “It’s not exactly where we want to be,” Corbino said. “My foot is fractured and a few tendons are strained so I know I’m babying that injury. Combine that with the lack of traction from the rain and that’s why we are where we are. “That’s not going to stop us tomorrow though. We have every intention of getting up in the Top 10 and hopefully even higher.” The Vance & Hines XR1200 race is set for 12:30 p.m. CT Sunday at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Ala.
