The 2010 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup season preparations start in earnest in Valencia next week with the official pre-season test over 3 days: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, April 12th, 13th and 15th. 25 of the worlds fastest teenagers will be on track, some riding the 125 Grand Prix KTMs for the first time while others reacquaint themselves with the bikes they raced last year. The race season starts in Jerez as part of the Spanish Grand Prix with races on Saturday and Sunday May 1st and 2nd. The 10 race Cup is also featured in the Grands Prix at Mugello, Assen, Sachsenring and Brno before the season finale at Misano. All but the Italian rounds at Mugello and Misano feature 2 races in the GP weekends. This year 15 nations are represented from as far apart as Japan, Australia and Brazil plus the length and breadth of Europe, from Sweden to Italy, from the Czech Republic to Spain. The last three years have already shown that the best of the Rookies get the chance to move on to the 125 Grand Prix category and both Jakub Kornfeil and Sturla Fagerhaug, first and second in last year’s Cup, have made that step for the 2010 season. While they and other ex Rookies contest the first 125GP of 2010 in Qatar their successors are heading for Valencia and the Rookies Test. Right behind the 2010 Rookies are those who have already set out on the Road to Rookies Cup for 2011. More about both can be found on the website at www.redbullrookiescup.com and once the action starts in Valencia news bulletins will be on Twitter at www.twitter.com/RB_Rookies_Cup
