On Saturday, August 21st, the Red Flag Fund held its annual auction at lovely Blackhawk Farms Raceway. Mother nature provided a beautiful test and tune day for the CCS racers, who attended an evening of fun for a very serious cause. Amongst the items auctioned off was an Audi Driver experience provided by Schaumberg Audi . The winning bidder received an accommodations/dinner package, valued at over $350, along with their choice of Audi vehicle to enjoy for a weekend of pleasure. Chris Shaffer was a highlight in his “I Love Justin Beiber” ensemble. A lucky bidder won his company as an ‘umbrella boy’ the following race day. Tony Avello spent the Road America AMA weekend collecting signatures from all of that weekends competitors on a Buell windscreen with a Red Flag Fund Sticker front and center. Rick Breuer will add the nicely framed souvenir to his collection. Speaking with Brian McLaughlin, president of the RFF, he said, “Each year we are never sure how things will turn out. This year we had fantastic weather, more items than we expected, and the crowd was as enthusiastic and generous as ever. We totaled just over $11,300 through auction sales, beer, apparel, bake sale items and 50/50 raffle. We’d like to thank everyone who donated or purchased items, Blackhawk Farms for their hospitality, Motovid and BFR for donating the beer, and Mark Stiles, auctioneer extraordinaire.” Brian added, “We are humbled by the support the Red Flag Fund gets where ever we go. It is because of all of the great people in the racing community that the fund can help others when they need it most.” The Red Flag Fund is dedicated to helping seriously injured road racers.
