Scott all set for MotoGP debut in Qatar
It’s a big weekend ahead for Scott Redding. Not only will the 21-year-old Briton make his MotoGP debut in Qatar, but he will also mark his 100th Grand Prix appearance when he lines up on the grid for the opening race of the 2104 season.
Scott has impressed during winter testing, improving his lap times repeatedly as his confidence in the Honda RCV1000R he’ll campaign this season increased day by day.
However, testing is over and on Sunday 23rd March in Qatar Scott will line up for the first time on the MotoGP grid, a career milestone he admits to being both nervous and curious about in equal measure.
Scott Redding
“Racing in MotoGP is the dream of every rider, so Sunday in Qatar promises to be very special indeed. When I line up on the grid for the first time I expect to feel a little nervous, but I’m also curious to see what we can do at the start of this new adventure. Our goal right now is to finish as the top Honda in the Open category, which means trying to beat Nicky Hayden – not an easy task given the difference in experience between the two of us. I still have many things to learn; about the tyres, about the electronics and about actually racing a MotoGP bike over 22 laps. I like the Losail circuit and I enjoy racing at night, it’s a pretty unique experience. It’s also cool to know that my very first MotoGP race will also be my 100th Grand Prix appearance. I couldn’t have planned that any better if I’d tried!”
