From a press release issued by Repsol Media Service: The Repsol KTM riders Julián Simón and Marc Márquez, continue to get used to their bikes at the Circuito Ricardo Tormo de Cheste, Valencia After just two days rest the Repsol 250cc riders got back to work this morning at the Circuito Ricardo Tormo de Cheste. Julián Simón improved quite a bit on the times he set last week, with the second best time behind Mika Kallio also on a KTM. Marc Márquez was finally able to test the KTM 2008 that he will ride this season, so far he had only ridden last year`s bike. Today`s work, unlike that in Jerez last week, was divided into one hour sections where the the riders were on the track alongside their rivals from the same category. Julián Simón continued to work along the same lines as last week, and made good progress. The Repsol rider felt more comfortable on his KTM and rode at very competitive times, he was one of the few to get under 1’36. Tomorrow he will carry on with the same type of work, aiming to make the bike easier to ride, above all when taking curves. In 125cc, Marc Márquez got out on the KTM 2008 for the first time and was satisfied with his first ride. He noticed a lot more power, both when accelerating and at top speed. And, the 2008 version of the KTM 125cc is easier to handle thanks to the changes made to the chassis, making it easier to tackle curves. At the end of the day, after 57 laps, Marc Márquez set a best time of 1’41.6, two seconds behind the day`s best time, set by Simone Corsi. Tomorrow the two will work with new set ups. Compared to today they will concentrate on the suspension, so that the overall lap time can be improved. Quotes 250cc Julián Simón >> 1’35.9 secs, 62 laps. “Today we made progress. The truth is that out on the track I like this bike more and more. We carried on working where we finished last Saturday in Jerez, the position of the hanblebars, since they were not quite right. I had a steering angle that was more closed than on the Honda. We changed it today, closer to where it was last season, and that meant we saw an immediate improvement. And the times came more easily. As I said the bike is handling very well and I realised out on the track that it is even easier to ride it. I am pleased with the work we did today. I set a good time and we worked well.” 125cc Marc Marquez >> 1’41.6 secs, 57 laps. “Today we were able to test the new bike. It went quite well. The biggest difference is the engine, although the chassis has changed a lot, it can now take curves much better. The engine is more powerful; the acceleration and the top speed are now better. We did not go out during the first set of laps as it was still cold and it was not worth taking the risk. We began at 12:00 and it all went well. Afterwards we went a bit faster and then I had some problems with the suspension, but towards the end we were more or less where we should be. We still do not know which is the best set up but we are quite pleased. I am very happy with the bike and the work we did today. I think the bike can be a good one.”
