Matthieu LUSSIANA, France (BMW S1000RR), -10.915 More, from a press release issued by Go Eleven Team: A great race for Niccolo’ Canepa let the Go Eleven team to leave Monza with a good result. After the problems during the practices, the italian rider is able to find continuity ending with a ninth place. It’s been a weird race, altered by the two starts due to oil on the track left by a BMW after four laps. At that point Canepa already gained 6 positions improving his practice’s timing by nearly a second. He set off again from the the eleventh place for a mini-race of only 5 laps. Despite a not-so-great start he kept on gaining positions finishing the race ninth. Out of score Nico Vivarelli, that couldn’t give his best due to a engine’s issue. He’s called for a redeem already since the next round in Misano in a month. Niccolò Canepa – Kawasaki STK1000 #59 – “We had quite a hard time during the practices when we try different settings. Unfortunately the previous work done in the CIV wasn’t really helpful because we had to work with the hard compound. I’m sorry about the short race, with a lap more I could have gain positions. On the finale I managed to overcome Antonelli but he did take the place back.” Nico Vivarelli STK1000 #12 – “Unfortunately during this weekend we didn’t manage to find the right setting. Along the race my engine suffered a lack of power and I really couldn’t do more.” Denis Sacchetti – team manager – “We still have lots of work to do on sight of Misano, where we want to show ourselves at our top condition. In spite of all the issues we had, we managed to invert the trend. This gives us a boost to improve and work hard along the next month.” More, from a press release issued by Althea Racing: GIUGLIANO (ALTHEA RACING) MISSES OUT ON STK 1000 WIN AT MONZA BY JUST 0.065 OF A SECOND Monza (Italy), Sunday 7th May 2011: despite a red flag mid-race, Davide Giugliano, riding with the Althea Racing team in the Superstock 1000 FIM Cup, obtained a very well deserved place on today’s podium, losing out on the win by just 0.065 of a second. Both Davide and his team-mate Lorenzo Baroni were riding well when a red flag stopped the race on the fourth lap due to oil on the track. The second part of the race consisted of just five laps. This time Giugliano started from second and Baroni from sixth position (as some riders did not restart after having crashed n the first phase). Both Althea riders were extremely quick off the line this time around and were in first (Davide) and second (Lorenzo) position after the first corners. Lorenzo unfortunately touched the kerb during the second race and this crash signified the end of his race. It was not an easy race for Davide either, as he fought Zanetti for the win right to the line. Althea man Giugliano stayed ahead until the final corner but it was unfortunately Zanetti’s bike that had better top speed, meaning that Davide had to settle for a very close second place; he crossed the line six hundredths of a second behind the BMW rider. A great performance by Davide however who took a new lap record and a convincing pole position. Davide Giugliano “We made a really good race here today and the work we put in over the weekend really paid off. We suffered slightly with regard to top speed and what I was losing on the straights I had to try and make up through the corners. For this reason we finished second today and not first. We would have been happier with a win of course but we are nevertheless satisfied with second place, and with the all important points that we take away. I thank my team for working so hard to provide me with such a high-performing machine.” Lorenzo Baroni “I want to thank my whole team and also Ohlins who all helped me to find a good setting this morning. I made a good start and was able to stay at the front but unfortunately it was me who made an error today, causing me to crash. I needed to go close to the kerb to exit the corner as fast as possible and I must have touched it which meant that I lost the front. I’m really sorry for my team because the points would have been extremely useful. We’re still at the start of the season however so we still have time. I’m confident will soon be fighting at the top of the standings with the others.” More, from a press release issued by Team Pedercini: The second race of the Superstock 1000 FIM Cup took place today in Monza on a dry track. Team Pedercini riders Staring and Bussolotti lined up in the second row while Mercado started from the fourth. After a quick start, Staring suffered a high side, crashing during the second lap. Bryan was taken to the Clinica Mobile and after to the hospital but thankfully just for some tests. After four laps Bussolotti was ninth and Mercado behind him in tenth when the race was red flagged because of a big crash in the Biassono curve that involved Mercado and four other riders. Tati crashed at 240 km/h and was taken to the Medical Center for a series of test but fortunately the Argentinian rider did not suffer any fractures. The race restarted with only one Pedercini rider: Marco Bussolotti. He unfortunately did not make a good start and closed the first lap in tenth position. With a fast race pace Bussolotti was able to recover some positions to finish the race in final seventh position, obtaining nine points which contribute to the championship standings. Marco Bussolotti: “I’m not satisfied with today’s results because without the red flag I’m sure I could have reached a better result. My second start was not so good and I took a lot of time to overtake one Honda rider in front of me and so I lost contact with the first group of riders. I pushed very hard and made up some positions but during the last lap I lost a position due to a small technical problem. It was not a lucky weekend for me and for my teammates Tati and Bryan and I hope they will be fine soon”. Leandro Mercado: “I was really unlucky. I crashed because of some oil on the track at a speed of 240 km/h. Now I’m feeling a lot of pain in my whole body but the Clinica Mobile doctors didn’t find any fractures and so now I must just rest and to look forward to the next race in Misano in June”. Bryan Staring :” I did not understand why I crashed. I entered the second Lesmo curve and suddenly I had an high side crash. I’m actually feeling some pain on my back but the test didn’t found any fracture and fortunately I need only to rest”. Superstock 1000 FIM Cup Race : 1) Zanetti (BMW) 2) Giugliano (Ducati) 3) Magnoni (BMW) 4) Petrucci “¦..7) Bussolotti (Kawasaki) RET.Staring (Kawasaki) RET Mercado (Kawasaki)
