R&G Rookies’ Trophy launched to promote new talent at MCE British Superbike Championship
With an incredible 120 class rookies registered for the 2015 MCE British Superbike Championship kicking off this weekend, R&G is excited to unveil details of the inaugural R&G Rookies’ Trophy, developed to promote the efforts of new talent.
The all-new competition is eligible for riders making their debut in any of classes that make up the MCE BSB series, with the overall winner awarded a special trophy and a place at all four levels of the renowned California Superbike School, at Silverstone. The winner and two runners-up will be awarded points in a carefully calculated Rookies Rankings system throughout the season. Additionally each event will see an ‘R&G Rookie of the Meeting’ judged by the TV commentary team including Jamie Whitham, with each receiving two pairs of R&G Aero Knee Sliders.
The R&G Rookies’ Trophy is open to all riders entering a class for their first full season; for entrants within the MCE British Superbike, Motorpoint British Supersport, HEL British Motostar, Pirelli National Superstock 1000 and 600, Ducati TriOptions Cup and Santander Consumer Finance KTM British Junior Cup classes. This means that new riders in each class will have their efforts recognised alongside more well-known MCE BSB Rookies such as Broc Parkes, Jack Kennedy, Danny Buchan and Luke Mossey. The overall winner will be awarded a place with the California Superbike School at Silverstone. The prize, worth £1,670, will give the winner the opportunity to participate in all four levels of the School. The four levels present precise technical riding skills that are taught by experts who have trained top riders such as past BSB Champion Leon Camier. The top three Rookies will also receive an R&G Rookies’ Trophy in a special podium presentation at the final round of the season at Brands Hatch.
R&G UK Sales Manager Alan Garrett commented”The R&G Rookies’ Trophy is an exciting concept which continues our ethos of helping young and up-and-coming riders both with product and recognition. Alongside our position as Official Crash Protection Supplier to the MCE British Superbike Championship, this will help to further promote R&G within the paddock and the eligible riders too.”
Stuart Higgs, Series Director of the MCE British Superbike Championship said, “We’re very pleased to be incorporating the R&G Rookies’ Trophy into an already exciting 2015 series. The timing is perfect, as this season sees an impressive line-up of new riders joining the paddock or taking the step up into another Championship, so the R&G Rookies’ Trophy will certainly provide an added incentive for them.”
