Veteran racer-turned race team owner Richie Morris and primary sponsor Bruce Rossmeyer, owner of several Harley-Davidson dealerships including Daytona Harley-Davidson, have landed several big-name, out-of-industry sponsors for their 2008 MOTO-ST racing effort. In addition to Morris’ and Rossmeyer’s names, the team’s Buell 1125R will display Coca-Cola, Budweiser, Geico Insurance and Eagle Riders logos. “I have never been more excited about an upcoming season as this one!” exclaimed Morris. “When Bruce decides to do something, he usually goes all out, and this is typical Bruce Rossmeyer fashion. He has a working relationship in other areas with all of the sponsors, and it is great that they are following him into our sport.” Shawn Higbee and Dan Bilansky will pilot the Richie Morris Racing/Bruce Rossmeyer’s Daytona Racing Buell 1125R in the Sun Trust MOTO-ST Buell Motorcycle Company-sponsored Super Sport Twins class. The Richie Morris Racing/Bruce Rossmeyer’s Daytona Racing team will also field a Buell XB12R in the BMW Grand Sport Twins with Clint Brotz and Tripp Nobles at the controls. Only the Richie Morris Racing/Bruce Rossmeyer’s Daytona Racing Buell 1125R will carry the sponsorship of Coca-Cola, Budweiser, Geico Insurance and Eagle Riders. The team’s GST Buell will only race at the season-opening race at Daytona, Morris told Roadracingworld.com, but if prospective sponsorship deals come through the second team will run the entire season.
