Schwantz leads the Ride for Kids® Lap of Champions at Indianapolis GP; event raises $24,000 for PBTF Racing legend Kevin Schwantz led over 100 riders at the Ride for Kids® Lap of Champions during the Red Bull Indianapolis GP on Aug. 29. The annual parade lap at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway raised $24,000 for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation® (PBTF). The event attracted riders from the U.S. and Canada. The grand drawing prize, a custom-painted Honda CBR600RR donated by Deal’s Gap Motorcycle Resort, went to Ralph and Bonnie Cole of Cleveland. Schwantz signed the bike for the delighted couple. Deal’s Gap owner Brad Talbott was the event’s top fundraiser, earning him a custom-made riding suit from Aerostich. Other drawing prizes included gear from Lap of Champions sponsors AGV, Cardo Scala Rider, Dainese, Dunlop Tires, Olympia Moto Sports, Sidi and Tourmaster. The total raised was boosted by the auction of a helmet signed by Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo, Colin Edwards and Ben Spies. Randy and Sherri Sautner of Cruise Missile Custom Cycles donated the helmet, which went for $4,250. The Lap of Champions takes place by the invitation of Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The PBTF thanks the Speedway staff, including director of operations Mel Harder and the Brickyard Crossing team, for hosting the event. We also thank Dreyer Honda, the nation’s oldest Honda dealership, for graciously loaning several bikes for the ride.
