Aegerter, 8 More, from a press release issued by Tech 3: Yuki Takahashi shows fighting spirit at Mugello Tech 3 Racing rider Yuki Takahashi showed tremendous fighting spirit to claim a hard earned but deserved top ten finish in today’s Italian Moto2 race at Mugello. Starting from a lowly 19th on the grid, Takahashi produced a breathtaking first lap to claim seven places that set him up perfectly for a sustained attack on his second top ten finish in the ultra-competitive Moto2 class. The Japanese rider was locked in a thrilling fight with Alex de Angelis, Alex Debon, Julian Simon and Hector Faubel when he made a brilliant and decisive late attack to claim eighth position. He passed Simon on lap 19 and then brilliantly moved by de Angelis and Debon in quick succession on the penultimate lap to secure eight vital world championship points for the Tech 3 Racing Team. A large home crowd at the spectacular Mugello circuit didn’t provide the platform for Raffaele de Rosa to score his first top 15 finish of the season. The Italian lost several places on a typically frantic first lap and as he produced a determined effort to fight his way back into the top 20, he crashed out of 22nd position on the 12th lap. Yuki Takahashi 8th 21-points “When you consider the problems that I’ve been experiencing throughout the whole weekend, I’ve got to be really happy with this result, even if it is not the outcome we all want at Tech 3 Racing. We found a good setting for the race and the chatter issue I had before was quite a lot less and this e nabled me to find a reasonably good pace and at least put up a strong fight in the group I was in. Debon, Simon and de Angelis all have a lot of experience so it was not easy, so I’m happy to finish at the front of the second group. I know we have the potential to fight in the top group and that is where I’m aiming to be at the next race in Silverstone.” Raffaele de Rosa DNF 0-points “Today is another big disappointment for me and I am upset not to have finished my home race and build some confidence. I had a really bad chatter from the front-end and nothing like we’d experienced during the weekend. The bike had the same setting as yesterday and this morning when I didn’t have a problem, so this is very strange. I’ve checked the data and we can see the chatter but we need to do a deeper analysis to understand exactly what caused the problem. It is a shame because I wa s very confident but we have to move on and try and bounce back strongly for the next race in Silverstone.” Herve Poncharal Team Manager “We knew it was going to be a tough mission for Yuki from 19th on the grid but he has done an amazing race. He might have been able to fight with the front group if he was a bit higher up the grid but unfortunately a crash at the end of qualifying made his job today difficult. But he was aggressive and he was able to fight his way to the front of his own battle and collect some vital points for Tech 3 Racing. It is another big disappointment for Raffaele. He was super motivated to do well in front of his home crowd but he has crashed again and we have to work hard to understand his problems. But he has to learn he must finish races in order to gain experience because he is crashing too much. I have to also congratulate Andrea Iannone because he was able to open up a big gap. In what is an incredibly close class that is very difficult and he did a really good job. I’m confident with the potential of Tech 3 Racing that we will be fighting at the front again in Silverstone.” More, from a press release issued by JiR Moto2 Team: Team JiR celebrates once more the exploits of Simone Corsi, who went from 26th position to the 3rd at the end of the race, taking his second podium in this category. The rider from Rome got a fast start, holding 17th position after the first lap and getting to the top five within eight laps. From here Corsi battled for second position, but he couldn’t match winner Iannone who confirmed his victory by running away from the pack in the early laps. The battle for podium was exciting and close and only eventually won by Spanish rider Luca Gadea by just 35 thousandths of a second. Thanks to this podium, Corsi secures once more his third place in the World Championship, he is now just 4 points from Shoya Tomizawa and 23 from series leader Toni Elias. It was an unlucky race for Mattia Pasini, who ended his Sunday prematurely after losing his MotoBI’s machine’s front wheel during the eighth lap. Simone Corsi – 3rd “I’m happy for this podium, the team did a good job and I gave my best to honour the work they did this weekend. I knew I had a good race pace but the difficulties we suffered in qualifying and warm-up worried me a little. I succeeded in getting a pretty good start, moving forward a lot in the first lap. I was very determined. I know the track perfectly and I knew that recovery from a low grid slot is feasible thanks to the wideness of the track. Now we need to improve our performances in qualifying, but for now we enjoy this happy moment as we brought home more important points for the championship.” Mattia Pasini – withdraw “We worked hard during the weekend to test different solutions for our set-up. On Friday I immediately managed to score good times, but we didn’t succeed in improving. I was determined to make a good start but I couldn’t find the right way and I was stuck in the pack. Then I started pushing hard to recover but the front wheel went away and I felt without any injury. The development we’ve made so far is paying us back, but we still have a lot of work to do, analyzing the data and looking for the best solution to do better in qualifying and start in better positions on the grid.” More, from a press release issued by Moriwaki: On the race day morning, we saw 3 MD600 riders taking 1-2-3 at the Warm Up session, Thomas LUTHI, Toni ELIAS and Lukas PESEK respectively. Each team had succeeded their preparation for the race in the afternoon. At the race, there was 1 rider took off from the start and left all behind. Thomas Luthi and Toni Elias were among 5 who formed the second group. They battled to get the second position all the way through and Thomas Luthi finished in 4th followed by Toni Elias, 5th. Elias managed to keep his position on the top of championship standing, and MORIWAKI is now got on the top of Constructor Championship standing! MORIWAKI MD600 website: ~http://www.moriwaki.co.jp/racing/07_01.html~ More, from a press release issued by Kenny Noyes: “We Missed the Set-Up Today” After struggling to find grip over the two days of practice, Kenny Noyes and the Jack&Jones by Antonio Banderas team found some improvement in the Sunday morning warm-up and decided to take a chance with some more changes for the race. Unfortunately the last-minute changes didn’t improve things and, in fact, after only three laps Kenny was encountering wheel spin on corner exits making it impossible to return to the steady pace of 1´57s that he had run in the warm-up. From then on it was just a matter of hanging on and fighting slides. He started 33rd and eventually came home 26th. Now the team is looking forward to a fresh start at Silverstone, a new track for almost all Moto2 riders and a classic venue that returns to the G.P. Schedule for the first time since 1986. Kenny Noyes 26th fast lap: 1’57.898 “It was a tough and complicated weekend. We started out about like in Le Mans, looking for a set-up on a completely new track. We were improving session by session but after the warm-up this morning we decided to take a chance on some big changes and we missed the set-up. If we had had a better grid position and pace we would have been a lot more conservative, but we were so far back that it seemed better to take a chance. On lap three I had no grip out of the corners and from then on my only objective was to finish without crashing. We were at a big disadvantage at Mugello because it is a very technical track and we had really no references. Now we go on to Silverstone which will be a new track for everyone. We’ll start from zero, but so will everyone else.” More, from a press release issued FTR MOTO: FTR MOTO CELEBRATES FIRST WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WIN FTR MOTO’s M210 Moto2 machine was taken to an impressive start to finish victory by Andrea Iannone in Sunday’s fourth round of the World Championship at the Mugello circuit in Italy. Iannone, fastest in qualifying, became the first rider to win a Moto2 race from pole position and he did so in dominant fashion, leading the 41-strong entry from start to finish on his Fimmco Speed Up Team M210. Iannone also recorded the fastest lap, a new lap record for the 3.257-mile circuit. The 20-year-old Italian rider was more than seven seconds ahead at mid-race distance and eventually crossed the finish line 2.764s ahead of Spaniard Sergio Gadea in the 21-lap race. Of the three other FTR M210s in the race, Iannone’s Speed Up team-mate Gabor Talmacsi finished seventh, Spain’s Alex Debon brought the Aeroport de Castello-Ajo Team machine home in 10th while Karel Abraham on the Cardion AB Motoracing Team machine finished 17th in only his second race on the FTR M210. The results leave Iannone fifth in the World Championship – despite only scoring in two of the four rounds so far – Talmacsi is eighth and Debon ninth. FTR director Steve Bones said: “This is a superb day for FTR and the Speed Up Team. And the performance of Iannone is very impressive. His improvement on four-stroke machinery is dramatic. “At the end of last season he struggled to challenge the top 10 in a Spanish Supersport Championship race and even the beginning of this season was tough for him but his fourth place at Le Mans two weeks ago was obviously a sign of his potential. “All of the guys on our machines have performed well today and we’re really pleased for the riders, technicians and sponsors that we’ve been able to provide a machine capable of winning World Championship races.” FTR Moto will now turn its attentions to the Isle of Man where Olie Linsdell will race an FTR Moto2 machine – complete with World Supersport-spec motor – in the six-lap Senior TT race on Friday. Then, at Jerez in Spain next Sunday Kev Coghlan will be hoping to take the lead of the CEV Buckler National Championship before making his Moto2 World Championship debut as a wild card rider in the Silverstone British round the following Sunday, June 20.
