Ross Noble urges bikers to get behind Riders for Health’s new appeal Geordie comedian and motorcycle fanatic, Ross Noble, is encouraging bikers to support Riders for Health’s new appeal and help save lives in Africa. “I urge everybody to get behind Riders’ new appeal,” says Ross. “I’ve seen their work in Kenya so I know how much difference a motorcycle to rural communities in Africa.” Riders for Health is backed by motorcyclists all over the world and is the official charity of MotoGP™. They manage motorcycles and ambulances that are used in delivering health care to people living in remote places in Africa. With reliable vehicles that never break down, health care workers are able to reach isolated communities with vital vaccines, treatment, and education. Ross adds: “This simple solution means that, instead of healthcare workers walking from village to village, they can ride their basic but life changing bikes to visit five times the number of people than before.” Now the UK Government is matching all donations to Riders for Health until September 12th, giving your support twice the impact. “With the government doubling all donations, we all have the opportunity to make the world of difference to people’s lives in Africa,” urges Ross. The money raised by this appeal will help Riders to increase their crucial work, improving access to health care for thousands of people across Africa. The matched funding from the government will be particularly focused on mobilising health workers in Zambia and Kenya. Ross has supported Riders’ work for many years. He saw for himself the difficulties that health workers face delivering regular health care to remote communities when he visited the organisations’ programme in Kenya in 2009. “I’ll also be raising money for Riders on my Mindblender UK tour starting in September,” Ross said. “Last time, I was blown away by the response we got at shows all over the country, from people who bought the signed posters, folded notes and chucked coins into our bucket collections after each gig, with every penny going to Riders for Health.” In 2010, Ross helped to raise an incredible £42,000 on his UK tour, donating all of the proceeds from sales of a limited edition poster. Riders for Health had volunteers at each of his shows and audiences up and down the country generously donated every night of the three-month tour. CEO of Riders for Health, Andrea Coleman said: “Every donation we receive will help us to keep a health worker on the road. Very simply, this appeal will save lives. We are very grateful to Ross for his loyal support over the years and we hope that many people recognise the importance of this appeal.” To show your support of Riders for Health’s special appeal, please visit www.riders.org and make a donation today or call +44 (0)1604 889570. www.riders.org
