R.I.P.: Race Official Danny Farnsworth

Long-time WSMC Race official and New Racer School Instructor Danny Farnsworth, age 64, died in a hospital in Arroyo Grande, California last night. 

According to an e-mail to Roadracing World from his lifelong friend Larry Cochran, “Danny has been fighting health problems for several years. Heart problems that led to kidney and liver failure. He spent the last six weeks in ICU, most unconscious.

“He did wake up several days ago , but unable to communicate. I saw him on Sunday and he was able to recognize those who visited.

“It was a peaceful passing and a condition that was never going to allow him to leave the hospital.

“I have so many great memories of Danny. I have tears in my eyes and joy in my heart for having him in my life since we were kids!

“I will pass along any arrangements when I hear.”

Farnsworth is survived by his wife, Sheryl; his daughter, Sandy; his sister, Denna Hicks; and his brothers, Rex and Wade Farnsworth.
