Sparky Edmonston, former mechanic for Wayne Rainey, friend and colleague of Kenny Roberts and an accomplished flat-track and off-road racer, has died of skin cancer. He was 57. Edmonston not only worked with several road race teams, but he also worked as a stuntman on several films, including “Lethal Weapon” 2 and 3 and “Die Hard 2.” Sparky’s father, Bill “Red” Edmonston, is credited with the invention of the Lectron carburetor. Dan Rouit, owner of the Dan Rouit Flat Track Motorcycle Museum and a friend of the Edmonston family, says Edmonston donated to the museum and was active in the vintage motorcycle community up to the end. “He was a good man,” Rouit told Roadracing World. “And he was a good rider.” A brief obit notice can be found online at the Vintage Flat Tracker site: www.vft.org. A photo of Edmonston being inducted into the Trailblazers MC Hall of Fame can be seen at: ~http://www.vft.org/Trailblazers/TrailblazersIndex.html~
