FIRST PERSON/OPINION Via e-mail: By Ed Milich Vintage Road Racer and shop owner Ed LaCruz of Reno, Nevada has passed after a heart attack. He was 67. Ed owned the vintage Italian Motorcycle shop Dyna Reno. He recently raced a 1970’s Moto Guzzi Lemans and a Bevel Drive Ducati 900ss in AHRMA’s Vintage Superbike classes. Ed’s racing career spanned over 40 years, beginning in 1968 with dirt track and progressing to roadracing in 1989. He finished in 3rd place nationally in 350 GP in 1993. Ed’s son, racer Chris LaCruz, says Ed bested David Roper once in the 1990s in 350 GP class”¦in the rain. It seems that Roper’s Benelli wasn’t running too well, but Ed’s Ducati was. Ed was especially proud of that accomplishment. Along with his son, Chris, Ed also leaves behind a wife DeAnne and and a daughter Melissa. Cards can be sent to the shop, Dyna Reno 608 E 4th St Reno, NV 89512 . Chris is producing helmet stickers commemorating Ed’s life. These can be requested through that address, and a small donation for postage is requested.
