Road America and Protac To Pursue Two-Wheel Events Road America will be working with Doug Gonda of Protac to pursue additional two wheel racing venues for their yearly line-up of motorsports events. The growing popularity of two-wheel sports, from Superbike to Supermoto, has increased spectator demand for cycle events. A host for AMA events for 25 years, and recent host of the season’s first Supermoto event, Road America is looking to Protac to explore international cycle organizations. According to General Manager and President George Bruggenthies, “We’re happy to bring Protac on board to help us explore future motorcycle-related projects at Road America. Doug Gonda’s proven experience in the field will be a great asset in our efforts to find premier events to bring to Road America. We have a number of exciting proposals already in the works and hope to expand Road America’s involvement in two-wheel motorsports. Our area of the country has some of the most knowledgeable motorcycle racing fans in the country and we feel they provide the base to expand our activities in the sport.” For over 15 years Protac has specialized in the management, promotion and organization of domestic and international motorcycle road racing. Owner Doug Gonda expressed his enthusiasm for his partnership with Road America, “I am excited to be working with a track I consider to be the premier road racing circuit in the country.” Located in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, one hour north of Milwaukee, Road America is a world-class motorsports facility. It features a 4.048 mile road course, a motorplex for supermoto and karting, adventure trails for ATV and four-wheel driving clubs, a campground, and full-service hospitality for private and corporate functions. Since 1955 it has hosted major racing series including the American Motorcyclist Association, America Le Mans, Champ Car, CART Star Mazda, Toyota Atlantic and Trans-Am.
