Road America has signed a letter of intent to host a round of the new MotoAmerica AMA/FIM North American Road Racing Championship in 2015.
Roadracingworld.com called Road America President and General Manager George Bruggenthies Thursday to ask if he had had any discussion yet with MotoAmerica or the KRAVE Group, the new custodians of professional motorcycle road racing in America, and Bruggenthies happily shared his news.
“Certainly, we’ve had discussions with [KRAVE Group partner] Chuck Aksland,” said Bruggenthies, “and we’ve signed a letter of intent with a date specific, our traditional date, and it’s going to be the last weekend in May in 2015 [May 29-31, 2015]. Everything’s contingent upon coming together with a business plan, but they seem very open for possibilities. So we’re hopeful that it works out.
“I’m hopeful that this [working with MotoAmerica] is going to be a lot better. We’ve developed a happening with all of our campers, and they’ve hung in there with us. So this will be exciting going back to a full, three-day schedule, also. That will help this be more of a happening for our fans.”
Road America’s event in 2015 will mark the track’s 36th consecutive year hosting America’s top level of motorcycle road racing.
