In 2001, he started the Kevin Schwantz Suzuki School. In addition to running his school and working with Suzuki riders, he is the 2008 Red Bull U.S. Rookies Cup Coach. In 2007 Miguel survived a horrific crash at Road Atlanta during a testing session when one of his tires overheated. He healed and is backing racing in the Superbike class.
